Up 19.5 Percent, Migrant Workers Savings At BNI Until March 2025 Reaches IDR 2.14 Trillion

JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI recorded an increase in the savings balance of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) by 19.5 percent or Rp2.14 trillion until March 2025 compared to the same period last year (yoy).

Director of Consumer Banking BNI Corina Leyla Karnalies said the strength of the BNI network spread across nine strategic locations abroad contributed to the ease of banking access for PMI.

"We continue to be committed to providing the best financial solutions for PMI so that they can manage finances safely and efficiently, wherever they are," Corina said in a written statement, Friday, May 16.

He explained, one of the factors driving this growth is the ease of opening savings accounts through the digital wondr platform. By using e-KTP, PMIs can now open accounts digitally without having to come to the branch office. As for PMIs who only have Indonesian passports, account opening can still be facilitated through visits to the nearest BNI branch office.

"Digital onboarding through wondr allows PMI to directly access all BNI products and services easily and quickly," added Corina.

The BNI PMI customers are most widely spread in countries such as Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, and Japan. In supporting services to customers abroad, BNI relies on Foreign Branch Offices (KCLN) located in Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, and New York. In addition, BNI also has representative offices in The Hague and Sydney.

"The existence of KCLN and this representative office is a form of our commitment to come closer to customers and answer their financial needs as a whole," concluded Corina.
