Jakarta Provincial Government Targets 1,530 People To Work Through The District Job Fair

JAKARTA The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) targets 1,530 job seekers to be absorbed in the job fair program throughout 2025. This Job fair will be held regularly every month at the sub-district level.

"In 2024, 1,669 job seekers will get jobs through job fair. This year's target is 1,530 people," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency (Disnakertrans), Syaripudin, in his statement, Friday, May 16.

Syaripudin stated that the work exchange program is an effort by the DKI Provincial Government to reduce unemployment. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the number of unemployed in Jakarta in 2023 reached 354,496 people.

Responding to this, a member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Wa Ode Herlina, assessed that the DKI Provincial Government needs to be more selective in screening companies participating in job fair.

"If the company is clear, then workers will get a definite and stable wage, not just depending on the target," he said.

Wa Ode also emphasized the importance of monitoring the company's compliance with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP), according to the Decree of the Governor of DKI Number 829 of 2024.

In addition, he encourages an increase in the socialization of the work market schedule, so that more residents who have not worked know and can participate in this program.

"The socialization is still lacking. Not only through social media Disnakertrans, but other SKPDs, even RT/RW, must also help disseminate information," said Wa Ode.

He hopes that the job fair program can run more effectively and on target in reducing unemployment in the capital city.
