Australian PM Albanese Praises Free Nutrition Eating Program

JAKARTA - Australian Prime Minister (PM) Anthony Albanese praised the free nutritious food program (MBG) which is currently one of the priority programs of President Prabowo Subianto's government.

Albanese believes that President Prabowo's MBG program is an effort to build a nation that can improve people's lives.

"The growth and transformation achieved by Indonesia is the result of the hard work and aspirations of the Indonesian people, starting from development programs that can improve people's lives such as eating nutrition for free, which is the initiative of the President (Prabowo)," said PM Albanese when giving a joint statement with President Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, May 15, reported by ANTARA.

PM Albanese said that Indonesia has a central role in realizing stability, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, considering that Indonesia is the country with the fourth largest population in the world. Albanese continued that Indo-Pacific is the region with the fastest growth at this time.

Albanese is also optimistic that the current work carried out by the Government of Indonesia can help Indonesia become the country with the fifth largest economy in the world by the end of 2035.

Therefore, Albanese is committed to continuing strong relations between Australia and Indonesia in various sectors, including the economy and trade.

"For Australia, strengthening trade relations with Indonesia, and increasing investment in Indonesia is a natural and important thing, and inevitable," said PM Albanese.

PM Albanese carried out a state visit to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday morning, after he arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Wednesday (14/5) night.

At the Merdeka Palace, PM Albanese was greeted by President Prabowo Subianto with a state ceremony. The two then also met face-to-face, and chaired a bilateral meeting between the delegation of the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Australia.

The Indonesian Government Delegation accompanying President Prabowo, including Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Presiden Prabowo dan PM Albanese kemudian menyampaikan pernyataan bersama (joint statement) hasil pertemuan di hadapan wartawan Istana dari Indonesia, dan wartawan yang mengikuti PM Albanese dari Australia.

After that, President Prabowo hosted PM Albanese and the delegation of the Australian Government for lunch. Some of the menus served are typical Indonesian dishes such as gado-gado, and there is also jos coffee.
