Former IPhone 31 Thief Employee In Kudus Arrested By Police

The former technician with the initials Bcn (22) was threatened with seven years in prison after being caught by the police for stealing 31 iPhone units at a mobile phone shop in Kota District, Kudus Regency, Central Java, which was previously his workplace.

"The suspect was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a weight, with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison," said Kudus Police Chief AKBP Heru Dwi Purnomo as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 15.

The perpetrator, who is a resident of Cibinong Subdistrict, Bogor, is a former shop technician who is no longer working there. However, the perpetrator kept a double store key and allegedly used it to launch an act of theft

In the action, the perpetrator entered the shop with a double key. After successfully opening the door and safe, taking 31 units of iPhones in various series. Meanwhile, to eliminate the traces of the perpetrator reset the CCTV system.

The theft was discovered on Sunday (4/5) at around 09.00 WIB, when shop employees opened the shop and found a safe where merchandise was stored open and dozens of cell phones were missing.

This incident was then reported to the Kudus Police because the losses suffered by the shop were around Rp. 269.8 million.

The perpetrator was arrested on May 7, 2025 along with 31 iPhone evidence from the theft at his residence in Bogor.

"This case is a warning for business actors to be more vigilant, especially in the internal security management and access management of former employees," he said.
