Trump: India Offers Tariffless Trade Agreement

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump said India had offered the US trade deal proposing "no tariff".

New Delhi seeks to reach a trade deal with the US within 90 days of a 90-day hiatus announced by Trump on April 9 regarding a tariff increase for key trading partners, which includes a rate of 26% for India.

"It's very difficult to sell in India, and they offered us a deal that they are basically willing to really not charge us any," Trump told a meeting with executives at Doha.

The United States is India's largest trading partner, with a total bilateral trade of around $129 billion by 2024. The current trade balance benefits India, which has a surplus of $45.7 billion with the US.
