Ahead Of The PPP Congress, Sandiaga's Name To Mardiono Is Called Eligible To Be The Chairman
JAKARTA Ahead of the Xth United Development Party (PPP) congress which is planned to take place in mid-2025, a number of cadres in the regions began to voice their political stance. One of them came from PPP Jakarta who explicitly rejected the candidate for chairman (ketum) from outside the party.
The chairman of the Central Jakarta PPP DPC, Dadya Manggala, assessed that this congress is an important momentum to determine the direction of leadership and the future of the party. He emphasized that PPP still has many internal figures who deserve to lead.
PPP still has many great cadres. There are Deputys Amir Uskara, Rusli Efendi, Bang Sandiaga Uno, Haji Syaiful Dasuki, and Pak Mardiono who are now Acting Ketum," Dadya told reporters, Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Dadya criticized the maneuver of a number of PPP elites who aggressively encouraged external names to enter the stock exchange for candidates for chairman. According to him, this step actually weakens the spirit of internal regeneration and ignores the potential of the party.
"Why is the elite busy walking around offering PPP outside? There are names of General Dudung, Mr. Amran, and others. As if PPP is a cheap party. Focus on the revival of the party, not open a party looking for a ketum," he said.
He also highlighted the Secretary General of PPP Arwani Thomafi, which was considered to have triggered tensions between cadres in the regions and the center.
"The Secretary General should focus on the success of the congress, not even making things worse and clashing with cadres. This is not a personal matter, this is a matter of the party's future," he said.

Dadya appealed to all cadres to remain solid and alert to the covert agenda that is considered to want to ride PPP for short-term political interests.
This congress must be a momentum for consolidation, not an elite political stage. It is time for us to unite, raise parties and look to the 2029 elections with optimism," he concluded.
