Puan Maharani Officially Leads The OKI State Parliament Forum
JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has officially served as president of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) or the Parliamentary Union Forum for Member States of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OKI).
The 19th PUIC chairmanial handover was held at the Transition Ceremony of Presidency which was held at the DPR building, parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 14.
In her speech, Puan expressed her gratitude for the trust of OIC member countries in Indonesia to lead this strategic forum. Previously, the 18th PUIC chairmanship was held by the parliament of the Ivory Coast Republic.
"This is a great honor for the Indonesian nation and people. God willing, we will carry out this mandate as well as possible to bring PUIC to an active role amidst global uncertainty," said Puan.
Puan expressed her hope that the cooperation between PUIC member countries can continue to be strengthened, especially in efforts to build world civilization and create global peace.
"Indonesia is committed to fighting for various global issues that have a direct impact on OIC countries, including full support for the Palestinian independence struggle," he added.
Separately, Deputy Chairperson of the House of Representatives' Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) Irine Yusiana Roba Putri emphasized that the inauguration of Indonesia as the holder of PUIC chairmanship is an acknowledgment of Indonesia's strategic role in responding to global challenges.

"This chairmanship is very prestigious and has a positive impact on Indonesia. In addition to increasing the international image, Indonesia also has an important role in encouraging conflict resolution in Palestine and other regions concerning the interests of Muslims," explained Irine.
With this leadership, Indonesia is expected to be more active in fighting for justice, peace, and solidarity among OIC member countries through parliamentary diplomacy.
