Against Genk Motor, Thugs And Anarchism, Riau Police Launch RAGA Team
PeKANBARU - Riau Police have officially formed and launched the RAGA Team (Wednesday Anti Genk and Anarchism) as a tactical task force to deal with security disturbances caused by motorcycle generators, thuggery acts, and potential anarchism in the Riau Province.
Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryyawan said that the formation of the RAGA Team was a concrete answer to public unrest over the increasing acts of violence and disturbances in public order.
"If there is still only one person in Riau who is afraid to leave the house because of thugs or motorbike genks, that is a failure for all of us. There should be no fear in this Malay land," said the Kapolda while leading the RAGA Team launch rally in Pekanbaru.
The RAGA team will be permanently activated at all Polres throughout Riau, as a quick response force to the potential for disturbances to the kamtibmas. Each team consists of personnel of the joint choice of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate, Sabhara, and Brimob of the Riau Police.
Prior to duty, all members received intensive training at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters, with materials such as close combat, raid tactics, high-risk mass control, urban maneuvers, and night operations.
The Riau Police Chief emphasized that the RAGA Team's philosophy was responsive in responding to public complaints, active in patrols and prevention, Gesit in coordination and movement, and Fair in law enforcement.
"There is no compromise against perpetrators of violence and disturbing security. Law enforcement must be carried out fairly, professionally, and indiscriminately," said the Kapolda.
