Trump Considers Participating In Ukrainian Talks In Istanbul, But Doesn't Know About Putin's Presence

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump is still considering whether to attend talks on the war in Ukraine planned for Thursday in Turkey. Trump admitted that he did not know if Russian President Vladimir Putin would attend.

"Ia ingin saya hadir, dan itu mungkin saja. Saya tidak tahu apakah dia akan hadir jika saya tidak hadir. Kita akan mencari tahu," kata Trump kepada wartawan di dalam Air Force One dalam perjalanan menuju Qatar dilansir Reuters, Rabu, 14 Mei.

Trump said he might visit Turkey for the negotiations as part of his trip to the Middle East this week. He said the next stop was the United Arab Emirates on Thursday.

"We have a very difficult situation. Now doesn't mean I won't do it to save a lot of lives and come back," Trump said, according to a joint report from the Washington Post.

Trump said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio would attend Thursday's talks in Istanbul.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would only be present if Putin was also present.

On Wednesday, the Kremlin said it would send a delegation to Istanbul but did not say who would represent Moscow.
