KKP Intensifies Rajungan Cultivation Because Global Market Requests Soar

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is intensifying grain in the community because market demand is soaring.

The high interest in the export market has triggered excessive catch-up in nature.

Therefore, the KKP assesses that the animal's re-stock and cultivation must be carried out.

"Budi daya rajungan adalah langkah strategis agar ekosistem rajungan tetap terjaga sekaligus menjaga stabilitas ekonomi bagi masyarakat pesisir secara berkelanjutan," kata Direktur Jenderal Perikanan Budi Daya Tb Haeru Rahayu seperti dikutip dari laman resmi KKP, Rabu, 14 Mei.

Based on KKP data, crab crabs are in fourth place as Indonesia's main export commodities, after shrimp, tuna-cacalang and squid.

The sales value reached 513 million US dollars or about 8.6 percent of Indonesia's total fishery exports.

Haeru said that his party was working with the Indonesian Rajungan Management Association (APRI) to cultivate a stall.

"Balai Besar Perikanan Budidaya Air Payau (BBPBAP) Jepara milik KKP selama tahun terakhir telah melakukan kolaborasi pendampingan teknis terkait teknologi pembenahan rajungan dengan APRI," ucapnya.

During this period, APRI together with BBPBAP Jepara managed to get through the critical stages of recovery until finally the seeds were formed.

This collaboration resulted in 250,000 stalls that had been restocked in Situbondo waters.

The target of the collaboration is that APRI's hatchery unit can produce crab stalls regularly and sustainably.

It is known, BBPBAP Jepara since 2024 has fixed its stalls to produce crabs.

BBPBAP also produces around 3.5 million crabs distributed to fish cultivators in Jepara, Demak, Pati, Lamongan, Pangandaran, Cilacap, Brebes, Pekalongan and Semarang.
