Two Judges Free Ronald Tannur Sentenced To 7 Years, AGO Opens The Possibility Of Not Appeal
The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has given a signal that the Public Prosecutor (JPU) will not appeal the first-degree court decision which sentenced two inactive judges to the Surabaya District Court, Erintuah Damanik and Mangapul, in the alleged bribery and gratification case related to Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal.
The Head of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar, said that one of the reasons for this possibility was that the decision of the panel of judges included most of the prosecutor's demands.
"So this is it, regarding the first 2 people, if we look at it, the decision is more than 2 per 3 of the prosecutor's demands," Harli told reporters, Wednesday, May 14.
In addition, the arguments submitted by the prosecutor at the recitor have been taken over by the panel in their considerations. Therefore, it is possible that no appeal steps will be taken.
However, the decision of the appeal or not on the decision was entirely submitted to the public prosecutor.
"Usually yes, if these things are fulfilled, the prosecutor will also consider accepting as long as the defendants accept the verdict," he said.
Meanwhile, for legal steps against Heru Hanindyo, it is said that he has not received further information. However, said Harli, the public prosecutor will appeal if the judge who released Ronald Tannur also proposes it.
"Regarding the HH, we have also not received any information on whether the person concerned will file an appeal. If the person concerned makes an appeal, of course the public prosecutor will also take legal action," said Harli.
In the development of bribery and gratification cases, Erintuah and Mangapul have received a verdict or verdict in the case of alleged bribery and gratuities. Both were sentenced to 7 years in prison and asked to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million.
Both of them also stated that they did not file an appeal after being sentenced to 7 years in prison which was lower than the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU), which was 9 years in prison.
