Have 34 Offices, Ombudsman Ready To Watch Menu And MBG Program Management Foundation

The Indonesian Ombudsman expressed his readiness and commitment to oversee the menu and foundation for managing the free nutritious food program (MBG).

"We will concentrate on whether all SOPs (standard operating procedures) have been carried out by the foundation. Second, we will focus on seeing if the menu presented is also in accordance with the SOP," said RI Ombudsman member Yeka Hendra Fatika when giving a statement after a coordination meeting with the Head of the National Nutrition Agency Dadan Hindayana, at the Indonesian Ombudsman Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 14, confiscated by Antara.

Yeka explained that for now the Indonesian Ombudsman has not been able to supervise the implementation of MBG in 38 provinces, due to the limited number of Ombudsman representative offices in the country. The Ombudsman will carry out surveillance in 34 provinces, where there are already Ombudsman representative offices.

"The Ombudsman only has 34 offices because of it. So, at 34 points, yes," he explained.

Furthermore, Yeka emphasized that his institution does not focus on supervising the use of the state budget (APBN) for the MBG program.

"If economists can, this 'oh MBG charges the state budget', and all kinds of things are welcome. However, that is not our domain," he said.

In line with Yeka, Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana said that his institution asked the Indonesian Ombudsman to be more intense in supervising the implementation of MBG, especially in all nutritional fulfillment service units (SPPG).

Dadan explained that BGN is very open to being monitored at any time by the Indonesian Ombudsman.

Two things can be done there. First, is supervision of financial use. Second, is the implementation of SOPs related to food production that will be distributed to beneficiaries," said Dadan.

Thus, he said, supervision from the Indonesian Ombudsman could make the MBG program more qualified to provide great benefits to the target of beneficiaries.
