JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) said that retail sales performance is predicted to decline in April 2025. This is reflected in the April 2025 Real Sales Index (IPR) which is predicted to reach 231.1 or an annual decline of 2.2 percent (yoy), after growing 5.5 percent in March 2025.
retail sales are predicted to remain good in April 2025. The April 2025 Real Sales Index (IPR) is predicted to reach 231.1 supported by the continued growth of the Parts of Cadang and Accessori, Motor Vehicle Fuel, and Subgroups of Sandang.
Executive Director of the BI Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, said that a number of groups recorded an increase and still supported retail sales in April 2025, namely the 10.2 percent (yoy) spare parts and accessories group and 4.1 percent motor vehicle fuel (yoy), the clothing subgroup also grew 6.4 percent, (yoy) even though it was moderated from the previous month.

"The development of retail sales in the report period was also influenced by the base effect factor from the sales performance of the previous year, where the Idulfitri HBKN period fell on April 9-10, 2024," he said in his statement, Wednesday, May 14.
Denny said that monthly retail sales in April 2025 are predicted to contract by 6.9 percent (mtm), from previously growing by 13.6 percent (mtm).
Furthermore, the majority of the goods groups were recorded to have fallen and were in a contraction phase, the deepest in the Other Household Equipment Group 10.6 percent (mtm), Food, Drinks and Tobacco 7.2 percent (mtm), and Subgroups of Sandang 9.1 percent, (mtm).
Denny said that the decrease in retail sales was influenced by the normalization of public demand in line with the end of the Ramadan and HBKN Eid al-Fitr periods.
