Prabowo To Brunei, Receives Honorary Title From Sultan Bolkiah

JAKARTA President Prabowo Subianto made a state visit to Brunei Darussalam, Wednesday, May 14, 2025. During his visit, the President is scheduled to meet Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah at the Nurul Iman Palace, Begawan Series Bandar.

The President departed from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at 07.00 WIB using the PK-GRD Presidential Aircraft. Also accompanying the President on this visit, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

A number of officials were seen releasing the President's departure at Halim Air Base, including the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Pol Karyoto and the Jaya Military Commander Major General Rafael Granada Baay.

Before boarding the plane, President Prabowo greeted the officials present. He was seen wearing a cream-colored safari, while Foreign Minister Sugiono wore a brown batik.

Different from his habit, the President did not have time to wave before entering the aircraft cabin.

Arriving at Bandar Seri Begawan at around 10:00 WIB, President Prabowo is scheduled to undergo a series of state agendas centered at the Nurul Iman Palace. One of the main agendas is the awarding of the honorary title from the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam to President Prabowo.

This visit lasted briefly, about half a day. The president and his entourage are scheduled to return to Jakarta and arrive at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base at 16.00 WIB.

This visit is part of strengthening Indonesia's bilateral relations. Previously, on April 5, President Prabowo had a telephone conversation with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

In the conversation, leaders discussed a joint response to the United States trade tariff policy under Donald Trump's administration.
