China Removes The Names Of Bill Gates And Steve Jobs From Mandatory School Reading

JAKARTA - Recently, the Chinese government issued a policy to remove school books that are considered "respecting western ideas". Not only that, they also delete books that are considered "embracing all things foreign".

Based on the report from Nikkei Asia, various titles of books containing foreign political and cultural ideas originating from Japan and the Western world will soon be deleted.

Deletions of the title include the books of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Both names are referred to in China as "poster children of US capitalism."

Launching from the Epoch Times, all books that are considered "worshiping foreigners" will be removed from the school reading list. This action will affect 240 million elementary and secondary students across China.

Not only that, the elimination of these foreign books will be replaced by a reading list that will be released by the People's Daily every month for adults. This was done in order to "learn about the 100 years of the CCP's glory."

Previously, in July 2020 the Chinese government withdrew books deemed inappropriate and illegal. At that time hundreds of thousands of books were destroyed.

Meanwhile, according to a Reuters report, books on Christian and Buddhist teachings were also withdrawn. In addition, literary works written by George Orwell entitled Animal Farm and 1984 were also destroyed.
