Neta Auto Crisis, Toyota Rumored Interested In Acquisition

JAKARTA Neta Auto, one of the brands of electric vehicles from China which has been established since 2014 under the auspices of thebolon New Energy Auto, is currently facing difficult times.

Reporting from Carnewschina, Tuesday, May 13, the crisis that has hit Neta has been going on since mid-2024. Car production was stopped, there was a mass layoff (PHK), and the company continues to struggle to find injections of funds from external parties to survive.

In the midst of these conditions, shocking news emerged from Kuai Technology which stated that Toyota, an automotive giant from Japan, is evaluating the possibility of acquiring Neta Auto. If this happens, this step could be Toyota's strategy to strengthen its foothold in the Chinese electric vehicle market, as well as give a new breath to Neta, who is in a slump.

However, these rumors have not received official confirmation. In fact, China's Toyota Brand Communications Director, Xu Yiming, firmly denied the news. "We haven't heard anything about this (Neta Auto acquisition)," he said.

Neta's Work In Indonesia

Even though the country of origin is experiencing shocks, Neta continues to develop its wings in Indonesia. This brand officially arrived in 2023 through the launch of the Neta V model. A year later, Neta presented a facelift version of which was named Neta V-II.

It didn't stop there, Neta also launched their latest SUV, Neta X, which managed to steal attention thanks to its minimalist design but remains modern. Regarding prices, Neta V-II is priced at around Rp. 200 million, while Neta X is at Rp. 428 million.

Now, the public is waiting for the direction of Neta's move to the future whether it is able to rise from a global downturn, or instead transform through cooperation with the world's automotive giants.
