MAGELANG Thousands of Buddhists from various regions attended the celebration of the 2569 BE/2025 Waisak seconds in the courtyard of Borobudur Temple, Magelang Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday, May 13.

The General Chairperson of Mahabudhi, Kokrang Samanta Kusala Mahasthavira, said that the Vesak seconds were marked by the beating of the gong at 23.55.29 WIB at the altar of the Borobudur Temple courtyard. After the procession, each assembly took turns reading prayers and holy parity.

Vesak's seconds commemorate three important events in Gautama's Buddhist life, namely birth, achievement of perfect enlightenment, and his death," said Samanta Kusala monk, quoted by ANTARA.

This year, the Vesak commemoration raised the theme "Improve Self- Control and Wisdom to Realize World Peace".

According to Monakok Samanta Kusala, the theme is relevant to the current global conditions which are still colored by various conflicts and tensions between nations.

In the series of Vesak celebrations, the people also received the blessed water used as a means of puja filtration to Triratna. This blessed water symbolizes humility and is expected to bring coolness in spiritual life.

As a cover of the Tri Suci Vesak series, monks and Buddhists carry out pradaksina, namely rituals around Borobudur Temple clockwise as a form of respect for Buddhist teachings.
