BMW Is Testing The EV Version Of X7, Has Up To 800 Hp Of Power

JAKARTA - Not long ago, BMW confirmed that it was designing a second generation of X7 to be launched in the coming years.

Different from its first generation, the flagship SUV will be offered in several choices ranging from pure gasoline (ICE) to Electric Vehicle (EV) for the first time in this series.

EV's BMW X7 presence is likely to materialize, as the car is spotted by a camerashot of a spy being tested with a camouflage sticker wrapped.

Reported by BMW Blog, Monday, May 12, the G67-coded car is being tested with a fully disguised sticker so that it looks unclear what has changed in the second generation.

However, the report said the car, allegedly named "iXmen", would be built on the same CLAR architecture as previous generations and had been upgraded to pure electric vehicles.

It said the full-size SUV will have Gen6 batteries and electric motors similar to iX3, which launched earlier before iX7.

Just like other electric vehicles, BMW will also present iX7 in the M70 version which is claimed to be the most powerful type up to 800 hp. Its performance will be supported by the driving of all wheels, xDrive with a dual electric motor configuration.

BMW iX7 will be equipped with a cylindrical battery cell, claimed to have an energy density that increases by up to 20 percent compared to current prismatic cells.

This car will also get electric motors smaller, lighter, and stiffer. With a 800V voltage architecture, BMW claims iX7 has a 30 percent faster charging capability with a longer distance.

Engineers have reworked the oil and water cooling system and implemented the 800V architecture for faster charging. Energy loss will be reduced by 40 percent, and production costs are cheaper by up to 20 percent.

BMW iX7 will be another model that carries the Neue Classe base by launching in 2027.
