Rahmat Erwin Makes A World Record And Wins 3 Gold Medals
JAKARTA Indonesia's flagship lifter Rahmat Erwin Abdullah broke the world record as well as won three gold medals when appearing at the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championship (AWC).
A world record was set by Rahmat Erwin in the men's 73 kilogram clean and jerk class in the competition which took place in Jiangshan, China, on Sunday, May 11, 2025 yesterday.
Rahmat managed to collect a total force of 360 kilograms. It consists of 155 kilograms on snatch and 205 kilograms on clean and jerk.
His last batch also sharpened his own world record, which was previously in the class of 204 kilograms when he appeared at the 2024 Asian Championships in Taskent, Uzbekistan.
Wu Haifeng won the clean and jerk silver medal from China with an lift of 189 kilograms, while the bronze went to Petr Khrebtov from Kazakhstan with an lift of 187 kilograms.
In the snatch, Rahmat Erwin became the best and won gold after lifting a load of 155 kilograms.

In this event, the Turkmenistan lifter, Bunyad Rashidov, who lifted 150 kilograms and won a bronze medal was also won by Turkmenistan athlete Bektimur Reyimov with 148 kilograms.
Rahmat Erwin got the last gold medal in the total snatch with a clean and jerk. He is far ahead of Wu Haifeng with 334 kilograms and Khrebtov won bronze with 333 kilograms.
This achievement reinforces Rahmat's status as the defending champion at the Asian Championships. Last year he won gold with a total force of 363 kilograms (snatch 159 kilograms and clean and jerk with 204 kilograms).
Another Indonesian lifter Ardaraya occupies the eighth position with a total lift of 305 kilograms (130 kilograms of snatch and 175 kilograms of clean and jerk).
