Here's Galaxy Sunshine 8, Geely's PHEV Car At A Price Of Less Than IDR 400 Million
JAKARTA - China's automotive manufacturer Geely launched a plug-in hybrid sedan (PHEV) called Sunshine 8 which will be marketed under the Galaxy sub-brand
This premium sedan-designed car has seven different trims that have their own advantages for consumers of the bamboo curtain country.
Launching from CarNewsChina, Monday, May 12, the Galaxy Sunshine 8 has a fairly spacious dimension with a length of 5,018 mm, a width of 1,918 mm, a height of 1,480 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,928 mm with a barrier coefficient of 0.25Cd.
The five trims for this car have an Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) system from G-Pilot which can function through a 126-line roof lidar, five millimeter wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 10 cameras, which supports parking assistance in more than 300 scenarios.
This is useful in evaded maneuvers with a maximum vehicle braking speed of up to 120 km/h as well as automatic emergency braking with a maximum speed of up to 90 km/hour.
Meanwhile, the other two trims are equipped with basic equipment consisting of two millimeter waves, 12 ultrasonic radars, and five cameras.
The Galaxy Sunshine 8 interior adopts a T-shaped layout equipped with 10.2-inch LCD instrument panels and a 15.4-inch central control screen powered by the Auto Flyme system.
The Flyme Auto system is powered by a 1-7nm Dragon Eagle chip developed independently by Geely and integrated with DeepSeek AI technology. Also present are 25.6-inch AR-HUD equipment that comes on certain trims.
This car has several other standard equipment such as AI voice assistants, over-the-air updates, 50W wireless charging for phones, 256 color ambient light, to the presence of seats that have ventilation and massage functions.
Geely offers two different powertrains, one of which is EM-P which has a 1.5T engine with 161 hp and a 255 Nm torque combined with an electric motorbike measuring 215 hp and a 350 Nm torque. With that specification, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour in 6.49 seconds.

Armed with a battery with a capacity of 18.4 kWh, the Galaxy Sunshine 8 has a pure electric range of 130 km according to CLTC with a comprehensive distance of up to 1,500 km. This powertrain is claimed to have fuel consumption reaching 3.67 l/100 km.
Another choice of powertrain, namely EM-i has a 1.5L engine powered by 110 cellphones and a 136 Nm torque combined with a 211 hp electric motorcycle and a 262 Nm torque.
With this powertrain, the sedan can run from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds for the lowest choice and 7.9 seconds.
This driver also has two battery options, namely 8.5 kWh for entry-level which provides a distance of 60 km with pure power and 18.4 kWh which provides a range of 130 km.
The manufacturer claims EM-i's powertrain has a fuel consumption of 3.43 l/100 km with a comprehensive distance of 1,600 km.
Despite having advanced technology with luxurious offers, the Geely Galaxy Sunshine 8 will be priced at an affordable price range from 125,800 to 165,800 yuan (equivalent to Rp287.6 million to Rp379.1 million).
