The Fourth Round Of Iran's Nuclear Negotiations The US Is Tough, But Beneficial
JAKARTA - A spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei, said the fourth round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States (US) regarding Iran's nuclear program was "difficult but useful".
"The fourth round of indirect Iranian-US negotiations has ended; difficult but useful talks to understand each other's positions and find reasonable and realistic solutions to overcome differences. The next round will be coordinated and announced by Oman," Baqaei wrote via platform X, Sunday (11/5).
The negotiations mediated by Oman were held in the capital Muscat after a two-week hiatus.
During the discussion, the two parties discussed the issue of Iran's nuclear program and the economic sanctions imposed by the United States on Tehran.
The first and third rounds of negotiations were held in Muscat on April 12 and 26, while the second round took place in Rome on April 19.
The dialogue process began after former US President Donald Trump sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in early March.

In the letter, Trump offered a new deal on Iran's nuclear program, but also included threats of using military force if diplomacy fails.
Iran rejects direct negotiations but is willing to hold indirect dialogues.
Iran previously signed a nuclear deal in 2015 with China, France, Russia, Britain, the United States, Germany, and the European Union.
In the agreement, Iran is committed to reducing its nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.
But in 2018, the US under Trump's administration withdrew from the deal and again imposed sanctions on Tehran.
In response, Iran announced a reduction in its commitments, including lifting restrictions on nuclear research and uranium enrichment levels.
