PSSI Sentenced To FIFA Impact Of Discriminatory Behavior Of National Team Supporters
PSSI received punishment from FIFA due to discriminatory behavior when the Indonesian national team hosted the Bahrain national team in the 2026 World Cup Qualification match in the Asia zone for the third round at the GBK Stadium, Jakarta, March.
Quoted from a release received by ANTARA, Sunday, EXCO PSSiarya Sinulingga explained that PSSI must receive a fine and reduce the number of spectators.
"The decision of FIFA, PSSI must be responsible for the discriminatory behavior of supporters during the Indonesia vs Bahrain match played on March 25, 2025. There FIFA also sent a report, so there was monitoring of their system anti-discrimination, as their report," said Arya.
"Based on the report, FIFA stated that Indonesia's supporters are the most active in the north and south stands. The incident occurred in sector 19, because Indonesia's supporters in the 80th minute were about 200 supporters of the host shouting the slogan xenophobia "Bahrain bla...bla...bla...", he added.
Arya said that PSSI had to pay a fine of almost half a billion rupiah or around Rp. 400 million and had to reduce about 15 percent of the seats available in the next home match.

He added that the reduction in the number of seats was applied behind the north and south sides of the goal, but FIFA offered another alternative so that this number could be filled by other supporting elements.
"FIFA also provides alternative space, maybe 15 percent is given, but to anti-discrimination communities or special communities such as families, maybe students or women. And they must put up anti-discrimination banners," said Arya.
FIFA, he continued, asked PSSI to make a comprehensive plan against discrimination in football.
"This sanction is a tough thing that we accept because FIFA has principles of equality, humanity, mutual respect, and respect," he explained.
According to Arya, the sanctions from FIFA are a lesson and it is necessary to take literacy and education steps to supporters not to do things related to discrimination such as hatespeech, hate speech, racism, xenophobia, and others.
"Obviously this is detrimental to all of us. But it must be shared," he said.
This sentence will then be applied by PSSI when the Indonesian national team plays the ninth match of Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualification for the third round of the Asian zone to host the Chinese national team at the GBK Stadium, Jakarta, June 5 at 20.45 WIB.
