Ambassador Heru Subolo: IGS Real Forms The Concept Of Indonesia Incorporated, Improves Visibilities And Competitiveness

JAKARTA - The Indonesia Gastroplomacy Series (IGS) is a tangible manifestation of Indonesia's incorporated concept, increasing visibility and competitiveness in the global arena with food being one of the diplomatic tools, said the Expert Staff of the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs for Social Culture and Empowerment of Indonesian People outside the Ambassador R. Heru Hartanto Subolo.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with other ministries and a number of institutions have successfully held the Indonesia "Gastrodiplomacy Series (IGS): Diplomatic Tour Goes to West Nusa Tenggara" which ended on Saturday (10/5).

Held since last Thursday, this activity has succeeded in lifting the culture, economy, investment and tourism of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Ambassador Heru Subolo explained that the IGS aims to promote Indonesia as a whole. He said this activity had taken place five times in various provinces with different participants.

"The entrance is gastro or food, one of the diplomatic tools. But at the same time we include potential aspects to collaborate between foreign embassies and national stakeholders," he said in a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sunday, May 11.

Ambassador Heru Subolo said, IGS is a tangible manifestation of the concept of Indonesia Incorporated and shows the importance of collaboration and synergy, in order to increase Indonesia's visibility and competitiveness on a global scale.

"Now we will follow up with concrete collaborations from various stakeholders. The commitment from the government is very high, it's just a matter of how we follow up with foreign governments through their ambassadors here," he said.

The "Gastrodiplomacy Series (IGS): Diplomatic Tour Goes to West Nusa Tenggara" was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Creative Economy, NTB Provincial Government, InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and Pelita Air.

The participants were invited to explore the beauty of culture, culinary, tourism potential, and the potential for investment in NTB.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy who came directly to the Local Gastronomemy Experience in the Tourism Village of Bilebante (09/05) also appreciated the implementation of the 2025 IGS, encouraging strengthening the expansion of the local-based creative economy to the international sector.

"Culinary diplomacy is a cross-cultural bridge that is able to strengthen relations between nations. We can build cross-regional cooperation, even across continents, through food. That is how we foster friendship and introduce potential villages," said Wamenekraf Irene Umar.

For three days, the delegation explored the cultural diversity and history of Mataram City by traveling around Kota Tua Ampenan and the NTB Museum, had direct dialogue with the Governor of NTB, interacting with MSME players, enjoying organic culinary in the Bilebante Tourism Village, supporting green initiative through tree planting, to seeing the potential development of Special Economic Zones in Mandalika.

The delegation group consisting of 38 Ambassadors and foreign partners and diplomats from 27 countries closed the series of activities by watching the ongoing 2025 Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia, as well as following the track experience, trying directly to Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit.
