A Total Of 19 Illegal Migrant Workers Who Wanted To Go To Malaysia Were Handed Over To BP3MI Riau
JAKARTA - A total of 19 illegal Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) were handed over to the Riau Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI) by the Dumai Naval Base (Lanal).
"It was handed over to BP3MI and we are currently collecting data and the process of returning to their area of origin," said Head of BP3MI Riau, Fanny Wahyu in a report received in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 10.
According to reports, the dozens of illegal migrant workers plan to go to Malaysia by speed boat, but were thwarted by the joint team F1QR Lanal Dumai in the waters of Rupat, Bengkalis, Riau.
In this operation, he said, Lanal Dumai also arrested two perpetrators who were crew members (ABK).
Based on the investigation, the two perpetrators admitted that they had delivered and picked up illegal Indonesian migrant workers from and to Malaysia.
"The results of our interview with the victim, there are victims who are the first time and some have been to Malaysia, but their passports have been blacklisted by Malaysian Immigration," he said.
Currently, the two perpetrators have been handed over to the Riau Police Criminal Investigation Unit for legal processing.

Previously, the Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding reminded the public to follow the procedures that had been set before working abroad.
Karding revealed that illegal migrant workers are very vulnerable to unfair treatment, torture to criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO) in placement countries.
"95 percent of our data, those who experience violence, exploitation, unfair treatment, and even TIP are people who go non-procedural or illegal," he said.
