Palace: President Prabowo Has Not Considered Asset Confiscation Perppu
Spokesperson for President Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto had not yet considered issuing regulations to replace asset confiscation laws (perppu).
Prasetyo explained that the government is currently choosing to communicate with the DPR to accelerate the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU).
"Until today, not yet. He (President Prabowo) prefers, we chose to communicate with friends in the DPR, with party friends," Prasetyo said in response to a question reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 9.
Apart from that, Prasetyo emphasized that President Prabowo remains committed to supporting the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill into law. One of these commitments was stated by President Prabowo while attending the commemoration of International Labor Day (May Day) 2025 at the Monas Cross Field, Jakarta, on May 1, 2025.
"When May Day also conveyed this as a commitment, which is actually not strange, because one of the Asta Cita of President Prabowo Subianto's administration and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is about eradicating corruption. (Asset Confiscation Law, ed.) This is a derivative," continued Prasetyo Hadi, who is also the minister of state secretary.
Prasetyo revealed that in a meeting with several leaders of political parties, the President also made the Asset Confiscation Bill one of the issues discussed together.
"This is not yet discussed by him. So, during a meeting with the party's chairmanes, this is one of the materials (discussed)," said Prasetyo Hadi.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, stated that the discussion of the Draft Law on Asset Confiscation is waiting for the discussion of the Draft Criminal Procedure Code (RUU KUHAP) to be completed first.
"First, it is in accordance with the mechanism, we will discuss the Criminal Procedure Code first," said Puan.
He said the DPR RI did not want the discussion of the Criminal Procedure Code and the Asset Confiscation Bill to be carried out in a hurry.
"Because if you are in a hurry, it will not be in accordance with existing regulations and then it does not comply with the existing mechanism. It will be vulnerable," said Puan.

"It was stated that by the leadership (Commission III) this year it will be resolved," said Bob.
The Asset Confiscation Bill has been rolling for almost two decades since it was first proposed by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) in 2008.
The bill was included in the national legislation program (prolegnas) in 2023, and the 7th President Joko Widodo in the same year, also sent a presidential letter (surpres) of the Asset Confiscation Bill as a bill proposed by the government to be discussed together with the DPR.
However, so far the bill has not been formally discussed by neither the government nor the DPR.
