Former UGM-Owned Company Boss Becomes A Corruption Suspect In Purchase Of Fictitious Kakao Seeds Of IDR 7 Billion

JATENG - The Central Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has named RG, the former President Director (Managing Director) of PT Pagilaran, a company owned by Gajah Mada University (UGM) Yogyakarta, as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the fictitious purchase of cocoa beans worth IDR 7 billion in 2019.

Assistant for Special Crimes at the Central Java Prosecutor's Office, Lukas Alexander Sinuraya, said the suspect RG had been detained at the Semarang Pemasyrakatan Institute (Lapas) for the next 20 days for investigation purposes.

He explained that the alleged corruption in the purchase of fictitious cocoa beans stems from the development of the Yogyakarta UGM Business and Incubation with PT Pagilaran for Cocoa Teaching and Learning Industry (CTLI).

PT Pagilaran is a company owned by UGM as the manager of a tea factory and plantation located in Batang Regency.

PT Pagilaran then submitted a disbursement of the cocoa seed procurement contract to UGM using incorrect documents.

"In addition, the cocoa beans purchased were never sent to CTLI UGM," said Lukas in Semarang, Friday, May 9, quoted by Antara.

According to Lukas, the suspect RG is suspected of knowing the manufacture of the filing documents and the fictitious weight memorandum.

He added that the suspect RG was suspected of enriching himself and others for the fictitious purchase of cocoa beans.

In the disclosure and investigation of the alleged corruption case in the purchase of fictitious cocoa beans, the Central Java Attorney General's Office investigators have asked for information from 25 witnesses.

Lukas said that investigators were also still investigating the alleged involvement of other perpetrators who also enjoyed the results of the corruption crime.

For his actions, suspect RG was charged with Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
