Military Helicopter Crashes In Sri Lanka, 6 Soldiers Killed
JAKARTA - A helicopter crash in Sri Lanka killed six military personnel, an Air Force official said on Friday.
Bell 212 helicopter crashed into Maduru Oya reservoir in Sri Lanka with dozens of armed forces personnel on board.
Six people were declared dead after being evacuated to hospital, said a spokesman for the Sri Lankan Air Force, Group Captain Eranda Geeganage.
"The helicopter was assigned to conduct exercises at the graduation parade. Four special forces personnel and two Air Force gunmen were killed as a result of their injuries," Geeganage told Reuters on Friday, May 9.
He declined to provide details about the possible cause of the accident.
