Reseh And Intimidatives, Members Of The House Of Representatives Support The Ministry Of Home Affairs To Revoke The Legality Of Thugs Organizations
JAKARTA - Member of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Indrajaya, expressed his support for the decisive steps taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) which will revoke the status of community organizations (ormas) who are proven to be involved in thuggery acts.
According to the legislator from the South Papua electoral district, the state must not be subject to thuggery that takes refuge behind the name of the mass organization.
"They have spread terror, caused unrest, caused chaos, and damaged the social order. So, they must be dealt with," said Indrajaya in Jakarta, Friday, May 9.
"They have spread terror, caused unrest, caused chaos, and damaged the social order. So, they must be dealt with," said Indrajaya in Jakarta, Friday, May 9.
He considered that the existence of these groups was not only troubling the community, but also damaging the social order and disrupting the national investment climate.
Indrajaya also emphasized that the actions of mass organizations involved in thuggery practices had deviated far from the main objective of forming mass organizations as stated in Law Number 17 of 2013 concerning Community Organizations.
The goals of mass organizations include increasing community participation, maintaining religious, ethical and cultural values, and strengthening national unity. If they actually create chaos, it's definitely not mass organizations, it's thugs," he said.
Indrajaya assessed that the revocation of legality was the right step because such actions of mass organizations had violated the law and were against the spirit of nationality.
"I fully support the Ministry of Home Affairs. This is an action that must be taken to maintain public order and sustainability of national development," he added.
Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs was now part of the Anti-Premanism Task Force. This task force cooperates with the police and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to take action against problematic mass organizations in accordance with their legal status.
