Only 55 Percent Of Street Parking In Jakarta Officially Managed By The DKI Provincial Government Is A Highlight Of DPRD

JAKARTA - Member of the Special Committee (Pansus) for Parking of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ade Suherman, highlighted the official management of parking on roads (on street) which only covers 55 percent in Jakarta.

Ade also urged the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency to immediately withdraw all roads that have been used as illegal parking spaces to be managed by the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency Parking Management Unit (UP).

"The remaining 45 percent must be withdrawn immediately to be managed by UP. Recruit PJLP if necessary, so that this potential does not disappear and can at the same time create jobs," Ade told reporters, Friday, May 9.

Ade also highlighted the limitations and accuracy of street parking data which only recorded 615 points. He questioned whether all private and public facilities such as hospitals and apartments had been recorded.

This member of Commission B of the DKI DPRD also asked for clarity on the contribution of the private sector to regional taxes from the parking business and encouraged the integration of cross-agency data for more transparent supervision.

"So, the importance of updating regulations to improve public services and local revenue (PAD)," he said.

On that occasion, Ade supported the DKI Provincial Government's plan to digitize the parking system in Jakarta. In addition, it is also necessary for residents to participate in reporting parking violations and implementing parking land ownership policies as a condition for purchasing private vehicles.

"Parking income must be returned to the community in the form of better service and an efficient system," he explained.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the DKI Provincial Government would improve the parking system so that there would no longer be a gap for illegal parking attendants to take advantage of. The withdrawal of parking fees in Jakarta will one day prioritize digitization
