The Number Of Online Judi Transactions Q1 2025 Decreased 80 Percent Compared To Last Year

JAKARTA - The Online Judi Eradication Task Force recorded a 80 percent decline in online gambling transactions in the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same period last year.

In the latest report, the Task Force revealed that the transaction value, which previously reached IDR 90 trillion from January to March 2024, has now fallen sharply to IDR 47 trillion.

Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) Ivan Yustiavandana appreciated the performance of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs for blocking 1.3 million online gambling content.

This blocking is also inseparable from the role of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, in tracing suspicious transactions. Another step taken by Komdigi is the limitation of ownership of SIM cards, as well as law enforcement operations by the Police.

However, Menkomdigi Meutya Hafid stated that collaborative work has not been completed. Because according to him, there is still a lot of homework in the action and closure of content in the future.

"Our homework is still a lot. In the future, our focus is not only on taking action and closing content, but also on improving regulations to be more systematic and sustainable," said the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party.

Meutya also expressed her appreciation to all elements of society who have contributed to eradicating online gambling in the country.

The success of lowering online gambling transactions is the result of the close synergy of members of the task force consisting of PPATK, the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and Bank Indonesia.
