Revision Of Permendag 8 Of 2024 Will Soon Be Completed, Minister Of Industry Agus: This Is To Protect Manpower

JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita opened her voice regarding the revision of the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 8 of 2024 which is targeted for completion this week.

Agus said the revision of the regulation was the government's general awareness to protect the domestic manufacturing industry.

"My face is smiling, right. I think this is common awareness in the government to protect the workforce," Agus said after being met by reporters on the agenda of the Local Eye Festival in Jakarta, Thursday, May 8.

He assessed that the revision of the Permendag 8/2024 will also further strengthen the domestic manufacturing industry. Moreover, Agus assessed, the manufacturing industry is still the backbone of the Indonesian economy.

"I don't think the Ministry of Trade is only concerned, but the government is aware and understands that manufacturing is the backbone of the economy. So, manufacturing must be protected and protected," he said.

Even so, Agus has not been able to provide further information about which products will be regulated in the revision of the regulation.

Previously, the Minister of Trade (Mendag) Budi Santoso ensured that the revision of the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 8 of 2024 would be completed this week.

"So, now discussions are still being held. Hopefully it will be finished this week," Budi said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 8.

Budi explained that the government would carry out a deregulation in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direction.

Later, there will be several products that will be regulated in the deregulation.

"Deregulation is not only import policies, export policies and domestic trade policies. So how do we attract investment, we provide ease of doing business to all business actors," he said.
