Thugs Under The Guise Of Mass Organizations: Tangerang Police Unloading Investment Disruption Networks
TANGERANG Tangerang City Police (Polresta), Banten Police, stated its commitment to take firm action against thuggery actions carried out by unscrupulous community organizations (ormas) and have the potential to hinder the investment climate in Indonesia.
The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tangerang Police, Kompol Arief N. Yusuf, emphasized that his party is ready to protect the business world so that it is free from threats from certain groups that abuse the names of mass organizations.
"The National Police is committed to enforcing the law against acts of thuggery that have been a concern for the community and have the potential to hinder investment. This operation aims to take firm action against the perpetrators and reveal a network of perpetrators of thuggery as a whole," he said, Thursday, May 8.
He explained that efforts to eradicate thuggery were carried out through operations carried out by the Sector Police based on Telegram Letter Number: STR/1081/IV/OPS.1.3./2025 addressed to all ranks of Polda and Polres in Indonesia.
"This operation is carried out with a law enforcement approach supported by intelligence activities, as well as pre-emptive and preventive actions. This aims to uncover and take firm action against the perpetrators of thuggery and comprehensively in eradicating the perpetrator's network," said Arief.
In this operation, the types of crimes that are the focus of prosecution include extortion, illegal levies, threats, intimidation, beatings, and persecution carried out by both individuals and groups.
"Premanism in any form that disturbs public order and the business climate will be dealt with firmly. This is part of efforts to create a sense of security and legal certainty, especially for business actors in Indonesia," he continued.
The Tangerang Police have arrested 85 people suspected of being involved in thuggery in the Tangerang area. Of these, nine people have been detained.
"Among them are two debt collectors who committed acts of thuggery in the Pasar Kemis Police area, six perpetrators of vandalism, threats, and beatings that were secured by the Jatanras Unit, as well as one perpetrator of job broker fraud who was secured by the Resmob Unit," he explained.

Meanwhile, the 76 other people involved were given guidance so as not to repeat similar actions in the future.
"We will continue to take firm action against all forms of thuggery and involve the community to jointly maintain security," concluded Kompol Arief.
