Microsoft And FFA Present Education Programs To Utilize AI In The Agricultural Sector

JAKARTA - Microsoft and the National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Organization announced the national expansion of FarmBeats for Students, an educational program that discusses the integration of smart sensors, data science and artificial intelligence (AI) in the agricultural sector.

Starting today, FFA teachers and students across the United States, including the FFA branch in 185 junior high and upper school, will receive a free set of FarmBeats for Students equipment, including a ready-to-use sensor system along with a curriculum for teachers.

Microsoft believes that more and more farmers adopt advanced technologies, including automation systems, drone use, and data analysis to intervene early in pests and diseases, can maximize crop yields to weather forecasts.

In addition, American agricultural students will also gain direct experience with machine automation, data science and AI to help them stay competitive in the global market.

By using FarmBeats for Students devices and free curriculum, students will build an environmental sensor system and use AI to monitor soil moisture and detect nutritional deficiencies.

This will allow them to understand what is happening to their crops and make decisions based on data in real time.

"Microsoft is committed to ensuring students and teachers have technologically-driven devices today, including providing students with direct experience with precision agriculture, data science and AI," said Mary Snapp, Microsoft vice president, Strategic Initiatives.

By working with FFA to bring FarmBeats for Students to students across the country, Microsoft hopes to inspire the next generation of agriculture and equip them with technology skills for the future.

"Programs like this equip students with technical knowledge, confidence, and adaptability to develop in diverse and growing industries," closed Christine White, head of the program, National FFA Organization.
