Honda Electric Carspaling Many In China, Strong Signal Entering Indonesia? HPM Responds

JAKARTA - Honda has transformed not only to provide gasoline-engined vehicles, but also to expand its electrification lineup by offering more electric vehicles for the Chinese market.

The electric vehicle segment (EV) has boomed in the bamboo curtain country, making Honda also not want to lose competition in the market.

In China, the manufacturer with the perpendicular "H" logo already has electric vehicle lines such as e:NS2, e:NP2, S7, P7, and the upcoming GT model.

The number of electric vehicles offered in China opens up opportunities for whether a number of these models will be marketed in other big countries such as Indonesia.

Sales and Marketing & After Sales Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), Yusak Billy said that his party was monitoring this so it was possible that the model from China would greet the Indonesian market.

"Currently it is still for the Chinese market, yes, but we will continue to monitor it," said Billy during an interview with the media in Sunter, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 6.

He also could not confirm the date of certainty that a number of these cars were brought to the Indonesian market and the opportunity is currently being studied.

"Will it be brought to Indonesia later? We are studying the opportunity," added Billy.

In Indonesia, Honda has just offered e:N1 as the only electric vehicle line to be presented in a subscription format with the option of post-owning costs.

This compact-form SUV has an electric motor powered by 204 ps with a battery with a capacity of 68.8 kWh which provides a distance of 500 km according to the NEDC cycle.

Only 300 units are available, this Japanese manufacturer offers a rental scheme of IDR 22 million per month for five years without a down payment.
