TikTok Confirms To Continue Operating In The US Despite Trump's Plin-Plan

JAKARTA - TikTok insists that it will continue to operate in the United States despite the changing legal uncertainty and statements from US President Donald Trump. In a presentation to major advertisers in Manhattan on Tuesday 6 May, TikTok expressed full confidence in the future of its platform on the American market.

"TikTok is here, we are here," said Khartoon Weiss, Vice President of TikTok's Global Business Solutions, in front of hundreds of well-known brand representatives. He added, "We are very confident about this platform and its future."

This statement comes after Donald Trump again indicated that he might extend the suspension period of the ban on TikTok, although the action was legally questionable.

Previously, under a law that had been passed by Congress, TikTok had actually been banned from operating in the US since January 19, 2025. Although there was a clause that allowed the ban to be postponed under certain conditions, these conditions were not met. However, Trump still issued an executive order to postpone the ban for 75 days a decision that most likely contradicts the applicable law.

When Apple did not receive guarantees from Trump, TikTok was not available on the App Store. However, after receiving legal certainty from the Department of Justice (DOJ), Apple finally allowed TikTok to return to its distribution platform. Recently, Trump hinted at the possibility of extending the suspension period again, extending the legal uncertainty regarding TikTok's fate in America.

At an advertiser meeting in New York, TikTok not only expressed confidence in its operational sustainability in the US, but also introduced a number of new initiatives and features aimed at advertisers.

The company announced plans to help brands place their ads adjacent to a viral trend, as well as target huge advertising opportunities such as the Super Bowl moment. TikTok also stated that it is developing a search-based advertising system, in response to the increasing number of users using the platform as an alternative search engine such as Google.

In the event, a number of big names of industries attended, including Unilever, a global company that houses famous brands such as Ben & Jerry 's, Dove, Lux, Lifebuoy, Persil, and Wall's.

Interestingly, there was not a single official statement from TikTok regarding the TikTok America' plan that Trump had previously put forward. The plan appears to have been made without going through consultation with TikTok, and so far there has been no concrete follow-up to the idea.

While the political pressure on TikTok has not completely subsided, the company's move to strengthen communications with advertisers and continues to introduce innovations shows that they are preparing to stay in the United States market in the long term.
