Lucas Paqueta Still Waiting For The Results Of Match Fixing Case Trial: Living In Two Years Of Bad Dreams
JAKARTA - West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta's wife, Maria Eduarda Fournier, said their family had lived in a nightmare for two years amid an investigation into match fixing.
The Brazilian is awaiting the results of a hearing by the English Football Association (FA) on charges of match-fixing because he intentionally received four yellow cards in a Premier League match for betting purposes.
If found guilty, he could face a life ban. He has also denied any wrongdoing.
"My husband has the establishment and strength that I admire. It impressed me!"
"We've had this nightmare for two years and he's always been strong. He always thought he would only defend himself in the right time and place."

"However, God knows everything, and only God knows why we're going through this!"
"Just because of God, we are healthy and living happily as a family. I just want people to respect that."
"Bad people and unfair people know nothing," Paqueta's wife wrote in an Instagram post.
Paqueta burst into tears after receiving a yellow card for committing a foul onima Moore during the league match which ended in a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
He was entertained by his colleagues and replaced seven minutes later by West Ham Manager Graham Potter.
Potter said in a press conference after the game that she believed Paqueta's tears were caused by frustration.
"I think he's just a player who's trying his best and wants the situation to be better."
"Maybe he's a little frustrated with his actions. Then you see humans, not perfect, but I like Lucas."
"He has given everything and in a difficult situation. He has given everything and now he is fine," said Potter.
