The Minister Of MSMEs Calls The Government Again Godok Rules To Prevent The Impact Of Trump's Tariffs
JAKARTA - Minister of Business, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman said the government was preparing additional regulations to encourage the strengthening of the domestic market.
This regulation was prepared in anticipation of the impact of the reciprocal tariff imposed by the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump.
"We are trying to prepare additional regulations that can secure and encourage the strengthening of the domestic market as one of the steps to anticipate Trump's tariff issues," Maman said at a press conference & socialization of the Inabuyer B2B2G Expo 2025 at the Smesco Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 6.
In terms of the Ministry of MSMEs, said Maman, his party encourages market diversification through strengthening access to domestic market support. According to him, Indonesia has potential that is no less competitive with foreign markets. Moreover, the Indonesian population now reaches more than 250 million people.
"So, this domestic market is no less extraordinary. It doesn't mean I don't support exports, I support 100 percent. But I mean, we can't ignore this Indonesian market. There are 250 million Indonesians that we see can also become markets abroad," he said.
When asked further about the regulations to be implemented, Maman said, currently the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto are still in the discussion stage.
Currently, the government is still negotiating with the United States.
"Yes, this is being discussed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and the Minister of Finance. Now, right, we are in negotiations with America," said Maman.

Even so, Maman is still reluctant to provide further information regarding the form of the regulation in question, whether later in the form of new regulations, such as Ministerial Regulation (Permen) or actually revising existing regulations.
He said, currently the negotiation process is still ongoing.
"What is the form, I think this, right, the negotiation process is still ongoing. Later, right, it will be a package. Right, there are already three policy directions for the economic team. Well, later we will adjust there," he concluded.
