Telkom Reaches IDR136 Trillion In 2020, IndiHome Subscribers Reach 8.02 Million

JAKARTA - In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic industrial condition that is still hitting Indonesia, PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (Persero) was able to record good performance by posting positive growth in terms of revenue, EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) as well as net income for 2020.

The issuer with the code name TLKM posted consolidated revenues of IDR 136.46 trillion throughout 2020, up slightly by 0.7 percent compared to 2019. EBITDA in 2020 was recorded at IDR 72.08 trillion with a net profit of IDR 20.80 trillion, or growth in double digits respectively. by 11.2 percent and 11.5 percent.

This gives a signal of optimism that digitalization can become a driving force for the handling of COVID-19 and the recovery of the national economy. President Director of Telkom, Ririek Adriansyah, said that 2020 was a very challenging and dynamic year for Indonesia, where the COVID-19 pandemic has hit almost all over the world and is still ongoing today.

As with other business sectors, the telecommunications industry has felt a significant impact due to the pandemic. However, it cannot be denied that the pandemic has also brought changes to people's needs and lifestyles, with the level of community digital adoption increasing significantly.

The pandemic has accelerated digital transformation to be several years faster and this is an acceleration space for Telkom. In line with the company's steps to transform into a digital telecommunications company, Telkom continues to actively support the government's efforts in Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery through support for connectivity, platforms, and digital applications, as well as social assistance.

"We are committed to continuing to provide convenience to the community due to the pandemic having to carry out various activities digitally from home, including work and study", said Ririek, in a written statement, quoted on Friday, April 30.

The COVID-19 pandemic encourages a greater community need for internet access at home. Capturing this phenomenon, Telkom strives to meet the increasing public demand throughout 2020 by serving more than 1.01 million additional IndiHome subscribers.

So that by the end of 2020 the number of IndiHome subscribers reached 8.02 million, or grew 14.5 percent compared to the end of 2019. This condition had a positive impact on the company, where IndiHome recorded a significant increase in revenue of 21.2 percent to IDR 22.2 trillion compared to last year and position itself as Indonesia's internet with the largest market share in Indonesia.

For the Mobile segment, Telkomsel as a subsidiary of Telkom recorded a significant increase in data traffic of up to 43.8 percent compared to the same period last year, to 9,428 petabytes, in line with the growing need for data services, especially due to changes in people's lifestyles due to the impact of the pandemic.

This is inseparable from the contribution of 169.5 million Telkomsel subscribers with mobile data users recorded at 115.9 million subscribers, an increase of 5.2 percent compared to last year.

Throughout 2020, Telkomsel's Digital Business revenue grew by 7.0 percent to IDR 62.33 trillion which was also a catalyst in the shift in the legacy business to digital business services. The revenue contribution from Digital Business increased to 71.6 percent of Telkomsel's total revenue, from 63.9 percent in the previous year.
