Fadli Zon Targets Indonesia's Latest Version Of History To Be Published In August 2025
JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon targets the latest version of Indonesia's history writing to be completed in August 2025 to coincide with the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia which is celebrated every August 17.
Fadli Zon is optimistic that the target will be achieved considering that the historical writing project was carried out by more than 100 history experts from various universities in Indonesia.
"Now it's only in the process, which writes these are historians. This year (the plan is to launch, ed.), (when) 80 years of Indonesia's independence," said Culture Minister Fadli Zon when met at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, May 5.
Fadli then explained that the latest version of the historical writing project was carried out by more than 100 historians and experts from various universities in Indonesia. He continued that the revised, added, or straightened parts also followed the results of studies by experts, and Indonesian history books written earlier.
"We will update and add several volumes, of course, base them on existing books. We involve more than 100 historians from all universities, from many universities that are historians, who are experts in their fields to have writing competence, and also editing (sunting, ed.) in the book, "said Fadli Zon.
He continued that there were many findings, including those from prehistoric periods, and there were additional historical records from past governments.
"Everything needs to be updated, we update. For example, the last period (in the current historical version, ed.) is the period before Pak SBY. If I'm not mistaken. Later, of course, it will be added," said the Minister of Culture.
He mentioned that the endium of Indonesian history which is currently used as a reference was published in 2012.

He said that when it was completed, the latest version of Indonesia's history book would become a kind of official Indonesian history book, and would become a reference for historical books taught in schools.
