Prabowo's Instructions: Mass Organizations Must Not Disturb Investment By Evaluating

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that community organizations (ormas) should not act outside the legal limits, let alone to abuse the community or the business world.

This affirmation was conveyed after a plenary cabinet session held at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday 5 May.

The statement was made by the Presidential Special Advisor for National Defense, Dudung Abdurachman, to the media. According to him, President Prabowo strongly emphasized the importance of order and the constructive role of mass organizations in society.

"The president said that mass organizations must be orderly, not disturbing, let alone harassing. That is very clear, "said Dudung.

Furthermore, Dudung said, the government is open to cooperation with mass organizations as long as they show good faith and participate in supporting national development.

"Please synergize with the government, provide input, and participate in encouraging development. That's precisely what we hope for," he added.

This affirmation from President Prabowo arose amid public concerns over the case of disturbances to mass organizations against the construction of an electric car factory from China, Build Your Dream (BYD) in Subang, West Java.

This large investment project was reportedly disrupted by acts of thuggery allegedly carried out by an individual on behalf of a mass organization.

Responding to this, Deputy Chairperson of the MPR Eddy Soeparno called on the government to act decisively against actions that damage the investment climate.

"There was a problem related to the thuggery of mass organizations that interfered with the construction of BYD's production facilities. The government must be firm in handling it," said Eddy in his upload on his personal Instagram account @eddysoeparno.

He emphasized that security guarantees are the most basic aspect in attracting and maintaining investor confidence in Indonesia.

"Don't let investors feel insecure. We have to make sure they are protected," he said.

The BYD plant being built in Subang is one of the important milestones in the development of the national electric car ecosystem. This project is expected to absorb up to 18,000 workers and accelerate the transformation of the Indonesian automotive industry.

Penegasan dari Presiden Prabowo ini muncul di tengah kekhawatiran publik atas kasus gangguan ormas terhadap pembangunan pabrik mobil listrik asal China, Build Your Dream (BYD) di Subang, Jawa Barat.

Showing a strong commitment to cooperation with the government, BYD even accelerated the factory's operational target from early 2026 to the fourth quarter of 2025.

With the firm attitude of the government towards disturbances to mass organizations and full support for strategic investments such as BYD, it is hoped that Indonesia will be able to create a safer, healthier, and competitive investment climate.
