Pramono Guarantees Opening Of Museums Until Night In Jakarta Does Not Make The Budget Swell

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung guarantees that the discourse on opening museums and libraries until the evening will not result in an swelling of the DKI Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

This is because the number of museum buildings and libraries that will be extended operating hours is not much. For example, libraries in Jakarta that will be opened until late at night are only 8 buildings.

Thus, the operational costs of the building due to the extension of operating time will not cost a large budget.

"There are not many A accreditation in Jakarta, only 34.8 are owned directly by the Jakarta Provincial Government, the rest are in SMA, SMP, SD. Which is the 8th which will then fully become the responsibility of the Jakarta government and we will open it. For costs, it's very small," Pramono said when met in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Monday, May 5.

With not so many buildings, the number of additional employees needed to be placed in museums and libraries is also minimal.

"It can be done in an ASN or pppk way. If PPPK can be employed at any time (assigned). And the needs are not too much," said Pramono.

Member of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Justin Adrian highlighted the plan of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to extend the operating hours of museums and libraries in Jakarta until 23.00 WIB.

Justin reminded Pramono not to increase the budget for museums and libraries to swell. This is because the increase in operational time will definitely require an increase in the number of employees to operational costs.

"If you want to open at night, just as needed. Whether it is needed or not. Increase residents' visits to regional libraries. Don't let this become a new budget post again," Justin told reporters, Sunday, May 4.

Moreover, according to Justin, currently most of the museum and library visitors in Jakarta are provoked from programs and activities organized by the DKI Provincial Government.

"Many school children are even financed by the Library Service, the Education Office as well. Even those from Pulau Seribu, if they come here also provide transportation. So the visitors are not organic," said Justin.

If Pramono wants to provide wider space to support the community in meeting the needs of various knowledge absorption, Justin advises the DKI Provincial Government to focus on developing digital platforms.

"We have a website and there we can borrow books. So I think we are efficient according to the times, if we have disbursed a lot of funds for the online library," he explained.
