CORIKA And AREA31 Develop AI Innovation To Overcome Health Impacts Due To Climate Change
JAKARTA - The Collaboration of Artificial Intelligence Industry Research and Innovation (KOREKA) and AREA31 Datacenter & Teleport strengthen collaboration to support the use of AI in mitigating health impacts due to climate change.
This partnership is part of the Indonesian Climatesmart initiative, developed by CORIKA, IMACS, MBZUAI with the Ministry of Health, BMKG, and related institutions. The main focus of this program is strengthening the Early Warning and Response System (EWARS), an early warning system for climate-sensitive diseases, such as malaria, which has reached more than 100,000 cases due to extreme changes in the climate.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Hammam Riza, M.Sc. IPU., President of CORIKA, said building a center of excellence in climate health is a crucial step towards data-based public health resilience.
"Synergy between technology and health policies allows a more adaptive approach, ensuring solutions that are not only responsive but also preventive in facing global health challenges. CORIKA sees this partnership as a strategy to accelerate AI adoption in the health sector," said Hammam Riza.
Through the initiative of the Indonesian Climatesmart, CORIKA and AREA31 will collaborate in developing technology infrastructure that is able to handle large-scale data analysis for the early warning system of infectious diseases.
With the support of the government and related institutions, this collaboration is expected to create more precise data-based solutions for stakeholders in dealing with health impacts due to climate change.
With access to more sophisticated data infrastructure, this program will further improve Indonesia's readiness to develop AI-based health policies.
AREA31, with more than 20 years of experience in the data center and technology industry, ensures reliable and efficient services for large-scale data processing. Michael Alifen, President Director of AREA31, said climate change has had a serious impact on health, including a spike in malaria cases.

"AREA31 is committed to providing supporting infrastructure for the AI ecosystem that allows rapid mitigation through data-based early warning systems," he explained.
CORIKA and AREA31 are optimistic that this collaboration will become the basis for 5 Priorities for the 2045 AI Indonesia National Strategy, namely health, bureaucratic reform, education and research, food security, as well as mobility or smart city.
The synergy between data centers and artificial intelligence can certainly have a positive impact on all levels of society that are sustainable.
