Google AI Mode Officially Expanded, One-Tap Search Feature Ready To Replace Old Search Box
JAKARTA - Google has again made a big breakthrough in the world of digital search by bringing a significant update to its AI Mode. One of the main changes, although not too highlighted, is the presence of a one-tap search' feature that now allows users to search with just one tap.
With this update, when users tap on the Search option in AI Mode, they will be directly directed to a complete text input column with an automatic open keyboard, providing an instant and efficient search experience. No longer need to skip the opening page or an additional click just to start asking questions.
Google also removed the waiting list system for AI Mode. Now, anyone in the US over the age of 18 can directly access it. Since its first launch in March, this Gemini AI-based search feature is predicted to be Google's answer to rival services such as ChatGPT Search.
Previously, when opening AI Mode through Google apps or widgets, users would see an introduction homepage and would need to tap the "Ask AI Mode" column to start typing. But now, that step has been deleted.
According to a report from 9to5Google, when AI Mode is opened, users are immediately directed to a typing interface with a minimalist display that only displays the G logo and the exit button. Carousel suggested the question would automatically disappear when the user started typing.
However, there is one weakness: users can no longer easily access conversation history, because the old homepage has been deleted. Even so, Google mentions that the direct access feature to history will soon be added to the input column.

iOS Gets Special Animation
IOS users get an additional touch in the form of an attractive animation when tapping the AI Mode button. Once touched, the search field stretches to fill the screen with the keyboard immediately appearing. There is also a typical Google color light effect around the screen that adds to the futuristic impression. Unfortunately, Android users have not yet received a similar animated effect.
In its official blog post yesterday, Google also detailed various other changes to AI Mode which aims to make user experience faster, intuitive, and visual. This step indicates that Google really wants to replace the old way we search, move focus from just typing in the search box into a more personal interactive experience.
With this aggressive strategy, Google clearly wants to ensure that in the ever-evolving AI era, they remain the main gateway of information for billions of users worldwide.
