Pramono Wants To Open Museums Until Night, DPRD Reminds Not To Make The Budget Swell

JAKARTA - Member of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Justin Adrian highlighted the plan of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to extend the operating hours of museums and libraries in Jakarta until 23.00 WIB.

Justin reminded Pramono not to increase the budget for museums and libraries to swell. This is because the increase in operational time will definitely require an increase in the number of employees to operational costs.

"If you want to open at night, just as needed. Whether it is needed or not. Increase residents' visits to regional libraries. Don't let this become a new budget post again," Justin told reporters, Sunday, May 4.

Moreover, according to Justin, currently most of the museum and library visitors in Jakarta are provoked from programs and activities organized by the DKI Provincial Government.

"Many school children are even financed by the Library Service, the Education Office as well. Even those from Pulau Seribu, if they come here also provide transportation. So the visitors are not organic," said Justin.

If Pramono wants to provide wider space to support the community in meeting the needs of various knowledge absorption, Justin advises the DKI Provincial Government to focus on developing digital platforms.

"We have a website and there we can borrow books. So I think we are efficient according to the times, if we have disbursed a lot of funds for the online library," he explained.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the DKI Provincial Government would extend the operational time of museums and libraries in Jakarta. The plan is that museums and libraries will be opened until 23.00 WIB.

"We will open the museum, not only until 5 pm. Including the library, we will open the library until the evening maybe 10 o'clock or 11 o'clock (night)," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, May 2.

According to Pramono, the extension of museum operating hours to libraries provides opportunities for students and youth in Jakarta to be more free in supporting their learning needs.

"We will do it immediately because this is part of providing education and also opportunities for children in need to be in the library. That's what we convey," Pramono explained.
