Prince Harry: My Father's Life Is Soon, I Want To Make Peace
JAKARTA - Prince Harry expressed his desire to make peace with the British royal family. However, he is pessimistic about getting forgiveness, especially from his father, King Charles III, and a number of other royal family members.
"I want to make peace with my family. Life is very valuable. I don't know how long my father will live. He didn't talk to me about security, but it would be great to make peace," Prince Harry said in an interview with the BBC, Friday, referring to King Charles' condition battling cancer.
The statement comes just hours after the London Court of Appeal rejected Prince Harry's attempt to restore his security protection rights in the UK. Since resigning from British Royal duties in 2020 and moving to California with Meghan Markle and her two children, Prince Harry has no longer received an automatic police escort, as decided by the British Ministry of Home Affairs.
Prince Harry previously sued the decision to the High Court, but the lawsuit was rejected. On May 2, 2025, the Court of Appeals confirmed that the decision was valid and did not violate the law.
"I am very disappointed. This is an outdated decision. I find it difficult to forgive this decision and cannot bring my family back to England safely," he said.
Prince Harry also accused the royal family of influencing the decision. He even asked for help from Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Minister of Home Affairs Yvette Cooper to re-evaluate his security policies.
"My father has the capacity and power to resolve this. He doesn't have to interfere, but is enough to let the experts carry out their duties," added Prince Harry.
Regarding his personal relationship, Harry realized that some family members would not forgive him, especially after he published a memoir entitled Share, which reveals various internal dynamics of the royal family. However, he stressed that he still wanted to make peace.
"I support reconciliation, although I accept the fact that I may not be able to bring my children, Archie and Lilibet, back to England. I love my country and miss it so much."

Since leaving the kingdom, Prince Harry and Meghan have often criticized royal institutions, both in Netflix documentarys, interviews with Oprah Winfrey, and through a memoir book. Communication between Harry, King Charles, and Prince William is said to be very rare.
Responding to Prince Harry's statement, Buckingham Palace only stated that all issues related to security had been studied legally and the court had reached consistent conclusions. However, they did not provide specific comments about Harry's desire to make peace with King Charles.
