The Legal Process For The Settlement Of The Land Mbah Tupon Case Will Be Escorted By The DPR RI
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), MY Esti Wijayati, revealed that he is ready to oversee the legal process for resolving the land case that befell Tupon Hadi Suwarno (Mbah Tupon), a resident of Ngentak Hamlet, Bangunjiwo Village, Kasihan District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region.
After a visit to Mbah Tupon's residence, Saturday, May 3, 2025, MY Esti said this visit was to provide peace to Mbah Tupon's family, who had received assistance from various parties, both from the TNI/Police, attorneys, the government, and the community.
"Of course, in addition to providing peace to Mbah Tupon, we will still oversee how the acceleration process to be able to return this land certificate to Mbah Tupon, on behalf of Mbah Tupon, will be able to run," he said.
His party further emphasized that various parties who care about the land case experienced by Mbah Tupon will follow legal processes, including hearings in court which will run in the future in order to return the rights to Mbah Tupon's land.
According to him, related to the Mbah Tupon case, there are important lessons that need to be considered, namely the importance of public vigilance in providing trust, especially in matters of land and credit legality.

MY Esti also highlighted the importance of a humane approach for vulnerable groups who may experience limitations in reading or understanding legal documents.
"If people are illiteracy, someone must read it. An explanation must be given. Do not let them be taken away without knowing anything," he said.
He also said that the community's active involvement in guarding the Mbah Tupon case shows that the spirit of mutual cooperation and social awareness still live strongly in the midst of the people of Yogyakarta.
"As a representative of the people from Yogyakarta, I am grateful. This is a lesson about how people work together, straighten things out that are not true, maintain and support so that cases like this do not happen again," he said.
Mbah Tupon, a resident of Ngentak, Bangunjiwo, is suspected of being a victim of embezzlement of land certificates, after his land certificate covering an area of 1,655 square meters was discovered to have changed its name to someone else and was used as a credit collateral of Rp1.5 billion in a financial institution, without his knowledge.
Mbah Tupon's family is currently waiting for the return of their rights and justice for land certificates that they think have been misused by the party they believe in.
The land case has been reported by the Mbah Tupon family to the Yogyakarta Regional Police.
