Minister Of Public Works Asks For Jalan Layang Sitinja Lauik To Be Designed To Be Earthquake-Resilient

PADANG - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo asked the National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) to pay more attention to the design of the Flyover or Jalan Layang Siyangkian Lauik which will connect Padang City and Solok, West Sumatra Province (West Sumatra) so that it is suitable for earthquake-prone areas.

"Given that West Sumatra is an earthquake-prone area, so whatever is built including large infrastructure such as bridges, roads and so on must be in accordance with existing governance," said Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo in Padang, West Sumatra, Saturday.

He said that later BPJN would discuss this with the Ministry of Public Works and other related parties in Jakarta for the sake of security and suitability of development.

In addition, the Minister of Public Works also asked BPJN to prepare a rest area on Jalan Layang Siyangk Lauik by taking into account the conditions of the surrounding community. In other words, it is able to support local micro, small and medium enterprises.

"So even though this makes something good, new, but the surrounding community who are directly affected by this project should not be starving," he explained.

In general, he said the construction of Jalan Layang Sitihat Lauik basically has a goal so that the people of West Sumatra from time to time can have better quality of life.

Moreover, these roads are the main sections to enter Bayur Bay Port so that they should be able to improve the economic side of the people of Padang City and its surroundings.

Although indeed on the other hand, he acknowledged that there was a construction project for Jalan Layang Sitinjak Lauik starting from efforts to reduce accidents that have often occurred on these roads.

"Hopefully this year the construction of the flyover construction can actually be carried out," he said.
