PNM Stops Certificate Auction Process Related To Land Mbah Tupon Case

PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) has stopped the auction process for land certificates related to the Tupon Hadi Suwarno (Mbah Tupon) case located in Ngentak Hamlet, Bangunjiwo Village, Kasihan District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region.

"We have carried out the process (auction) and then we stopped it because it was indicated that something was wrong there," said PNM Secretary Dodot Patria Ary, after visiting Mbah Tupon's residence in Bantul Regency, Saturday, May 3, 2025, as reported by Antara.

According to him, legally, certificates whose land is the object of dispute as happened in the Mbah Tupon case cannot be auctioned or traded by government agencies authorized to carry out auctions.

"So, legally, automatically it cannot be auctioned or traded," he said.

However, he said, the debtor who installed the land certificate known as Muhammad Ahmadi, still has legal obligations that must be completed according to the credit agreement to the PNM subsidiary.

"Of course the debtor will later, namely Mr. Muhammad Ahmadi. Yes, because the obligation to pay is contained in the credit agreement, so it must still be resolved," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the legal process for the Mbah Tupon land case, he said, the status of the certificate is now under investigation by the Yogyakarta Regional Police. Whether the certificate will be returned entirely depends on the follow-up legal process.

"If the certificate, this has already entered the process at the Regional Police (DIY). Later the verdict will be whether to return or not, we will wait until the P21 process and then in court."

"We will see later the court's decision until inkrah, once it can be determined the next step," he said.

He further said that the credit value proposed by the debtor in this case was IDR 1.5 billion and was classified as a bad credit because there was no installment payment for more than a year. So, there was an auction that was later stopped.

"It's been more than a year that is still less plus-minus. We usually give notification letters, warnings one, two, and three. For deadlocks, we then submit them to the auction office," he said.

Mbah Tupon, a resident of Ngentak, Bangunjiwo, Bantul, became a victim of embezzlement of land certificates after his land certificate covering an area of 1,655 square meters was discovered to have changed his name to someone else and was used as a credit collateral of Rp1.5 billion in a financial institution without his knowledge.

Mbah Tupon's family is currently waiting for the return of their rights and justice for land certificates that they think have been misused by the party they believe in. The land case has been reported by the Mbah Tupon family to the Yogyakarta Regional Police.
