Erik Ten Hag To Leverkusen, Signal Xabi Alonso To Real Madrid

Bayer Leverkusen is negotiating with coach Erik ten Hag. Leverkusen's plan to recruit a new coach is a signal that Xabi Alonso will leave with a new destination, Real Madrid.

A change of coach at clubs will occur. Coach Carlo Ancelotti immediately left Madrid after failing to win the trophy. Madrid not only failed to defend their Champions League title and lost against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final.

Madrid's hopes of winning La Liga Spain are running low. Again, Barca is hampering Madrid's pace. Now, Barca, who have 76 points, are four points ahead when the competition has five more matches left.

If Ancelotti leaves, then who will be the successor? Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was on the stock exchange replacing Ancelotti. However, Alonso remains Madrid's priority.

Previously, Madrid intended to bring in Alonso who succeeded in bringing Leverkusen to win the German Bundesliga and the German Cup. Only, Madrid had to compete with Liverpool left by Klopp.

However, Alonso rejected two of his former clubs and chose to stay at Leverkusen who won the league without losing. Liverpool itself finally got Arne Slot from Feyennoord. This choice turned out to be not wrong because Slot instead brought the Reds to the English Premier League title in his debut.

Meanwhile, Madrid maintains Ancelotti with applicable terms and conditions. If the champion in the domestic competition and the Champions League, Ancelotti's position is still safe until 2026. However, the former Bayern Munich coach, AC Milan and Juventus failed to meet the target so he would be dismissed.

Alonso is a strong candidate for the new Madrid coach. Alonso's signal that BayArena will die is getting stronger after Leverkusen negotiated with Ten Hag.

According to information quoted by The Sun, Leverkusen's negotiations with the former Manchester United manager have made significant progress. In fact, both parties are only one step away from reaching an agreement.

Ten Hag himself was fired by Manchester United in October 2024. Despite winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during the first two seasons at MU, Ten Hag was finally dismissed after the team's performance did not improve in domestic competitions.

When the former Ajax Amsterdam coach was dismissed, MU was already at the bottom. They are ranked 14th in the Premier League standings.

Even though they have changed managers and are now being handled by Ruben Amorim, MU's position has never moved. Luckily, they escaped relegation.

Not only that, but Amorism also brought MU to the Europa League semifinals. Even MU has a chance to go to the final after winning 3-0 in the first semifinal against Athletic Bilbao.

Only Ten Hag is still not open about the possibility of dealing with Leverkusen. Previously, the 55-year-old man who is now busy managing a business with his brother stated that he would not necessarily return to training or choosing to be behind a desk at a club.

"I don't know about my career. If I go back to football, I might just be a manager and not handle the team. But that's also uncertain. If given the trust, I will do my best," he said.
