2025 Sudirman Cup: Hajar Thailand, Indonesia Continues To Semifinals
JAKARTA The Indonesian badminton team managed to break into the semifinals of the 2025 Sudirman Cup after stopping Thailand 3-1 on Friday, May 2, 2025, WIB night.
In the match which took place at the Fenghuang Gimnasium, Xiamen, China, Indonesia first missed the first number in the mixed doubles number.
The pair Rinov Rivaldy/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, who are trusted to go down, lost against the pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Supissara Paewsampran 10-21 and 15-21.
Rinov/Gloria also previously could not contribute points when Indonesia won 4-1 over Denmark in the last match of the group stage.
Indonesia then equalized with Thailand through the appearance of Putri Kusuma Wardani. He managed to win two straight games 21-18 and 21-14 against Pornpawee Chochuwong.

The couple locked up the semifinal ticket for Indonesia after beating the Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat/Sapsiree Taerattanachai pair in two games 21-14 and 21-18.
Indonesia will next face South Korea in the semifinals. An Se-young and his friends reached the last four after beating Denmark 3-1.
Indonesia, which came to this tournament with the status of the second seed, set a target to reach the final round to maintain the chance to win the second title.
In the history of the Sudirman Cup, Indonesia has only been recorded on the highest podium once. It happened in the first edition in 1989 which took place in Jakarta.
